One of my first memories of dancing was Saturday night at Hammersmith Palais in London watching my parents compete in ballroom and latin dancing competitions to the amazing music of live bands. They were very good and won lots of prizes, but it wasn't till much later that I decided to have a go myself, in fact one of those big 0 birthdays gave me the impetus to have a go and it was like a duck to water and thoroughly confirmed the concept that watching can be a way to learning. I found dance to be a wonderful way of destressing through learning, and as I began my training I also realised what a privilege it was to help others to learn and share in the joy of dance. Thirty years later I still love to help people to find pleasure in dance both through learning to move in time to music with a partner as well as the social and caring friendships which are developed with like minded people.
