For as long as I can remember my dream was to be a performer, singing and dancing and with the help of very supportive parents who encouraged me chaperoning me around to dance schools and talent shows all over Liverpool I was able to live my dream. I was mesmerised with the excitement glamour and thrills of Performing Arts its vibrancy, colour and magic captured me introducing me to amazing people and performers all over the city. By the time I had reached secondary school I was hooked my goal was performing arts, teachers and friends all rallied around as we put on shows and performance throughout the school earning praise and recognition Although my heart was in performing arts I was aware I needed a plan b so never neglected my academic studies gaining 8 GCSEs.
When I left school the next step on my journey was the Dolphin Performing Arts College in the heart of Liverpool were I spent the next 4 years studying and performing TAP, Modern, freestyle and contemporary dance finally graduating with IDTA/UKA in 2003.after leaving college I worked the circuits dancing singing, choreographing and recording music all over the Northwest working with some of the best names in the industry including Ken Dodd. From performing arts I went into teaching, teaching in schools and colleges in Liverpool teaching PA, PE and supporting other subjects such as English PFWL. As well as working in schools I was employed part time with stage coach UK and theatre works teaching Dance.
Although I loved teaching and performing my ambition was to run my own successful dance company which I have Onyx Academy of Dance based in Maghull and Altrincham. As well as running Onyx I have carried on teaching at present I work for the Cambian care group teaching music, dance and PE I work with disengaged young people in the care system delivering the national curriculum through all the key stages in these subjects. As well as teaching monitoring pupils I liaise with care staff, social workers and local authorities producing reports risk assessments PEP and lac reviews. I have been responsible for gaining my young people GCSEs in PA, PHSE, PE. I have worked with young people on a one to one basis in solo care homes and in a group setting in an EBD school. Through my PA and teaching I have witnessed disengaged young people achieved confidence and strength gaining qualifications and doing things they never dreamed possible.
I have love working in the community promoting and supporting children in need, comic relief and other charity events working closely with other outside agencies. My dream position is working for LIPA. Being from Liverpool I am aware of the Beatles and the part they have played in supporting and promoting Liverpool the Liverpool institute of Performing Arts is at the heart of the performing arts industry producing some of the best performers in the country and I am so proud to play a small part. I have recently become a mum to beautiful Mason who demands my attention 24/7 but I love it and as a mum I appreciate what a tough job being a parent can be.
I have also opened up another dance school in total fitness Altrincham which is doing really well. All my experiences are transferable skills which I want to pass on I want the best for myself my family and my students and I work hard to achieve and be a positive role model
