Woodlands School of Dance (WSD) was established in 1958. In 1989 a new Principal, Mrs Lesley Stocker, took the school from humble beginnings in Church Halls and Community Centres to the new premises in Northfield, Birmingham in 2007. This heralded an exciting new start for the dance school.
The school has two dance studios; one of which is also a studio theatre that has a seating capacity of 80. They feature Harlequin sprung floors, barres, mirrors and also pigeon holes for dancers personal belongings. The school also has two dressing rooms and a music room.
WSD is inclusive of all races, genders, and abilities, and our emphasis is on co-operation and teamwork. As we are not a competitive environment the school is a great way to make new friends, many of our classes, in particular our adult students, build close friendships and organise many social activities outside of the school.
At WSD we recognise that most of our students want the opportunity to show their progress and skills to their family, friends and often to a wider audience.
We hold our own review style dancing show every second year, offering our students the opportunity to perform on stage. Our last show was held at the ARTRIX in Bromsgrove and was in aid of children’s charities. No Records Found
