Nelson Academy of Dance

The Nelson Academy of Dance was founded in 1977 by Gillian Francis, an ex-professional dancer. Pupils take part in annual productions at the Theatre Royal Nelson and enter into yearly examinations. Guest tutors and guest dancers are regular at the studio and are often taking workshops for the pupils. A pilates and Yoga class is on weekly, to encourage the strenthening and flexibility of our pupils, this is taken by a professional Yoga instructor. Competition work is also available as well as private lessons and coaching. Ex pupils have been accepted into full time dance schools and companies in New Zealand.
