ELEV8 STUDIOS is led by industry professionals from the full spectrum of dance and theatre arts. This enables us to offer the widest range of class options throughout our Dance Academy’s. From Glow Babies to Silver Swans & everything in between, there really is something for everyone!
We moved to our studios in Bedford in 2019. Formerly known as Brocklesby Academy of Dance, our school maintains a friendly, family ethos and having our own premises has given pupils a real sense of ownership and community. Located on St Loyes Street, it’s easily accessible from all areas of town.
When the opportunity to spread our wings and expand our dance family in Ampthill arose, we jumped at the chance. Maurice Kachuk had decided it was time to hang up his teaching hat and we were thrilled to take over his lovely studio. We will be integrating some exciting new subjects to the existing timetable and look forward to seeing everyone in classes this Autumn.
ELEV8 STUDIOS DANCE ACADEMY teachers are registered with the Royal Academy of Dance, Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance and International Dance Teachers Association, enabling them to offer examinations in RAD Ballet & ISTD Tap & Greek, LAMDA S&D and IDTA Modern Jazz. Angela & Sarah were amongst the first teachers in the UK to train and become certified teachers with Acrobatic Arts and Progressing Ballet Technique. Additional classes include Commercial Dance, Musical Theatre and Lyrical Dance.
We have regular performance opportunities in regional and national venues. Our bi-anual showcase at The Venue, MK gives pupils the opportunity and experience of performing in a fully operational working theatre.
ELEV8 students have the option to take exams or maybe join our comp team if they are looking to take dance as a vocation. The mix of students we have who love dance as a hobby or wish to pursue it more seriously is the perfect blend and The ECP compete regularly at All England Dance and have recently taken home gold & silver medals from the finals at the Hackney Empire in London. With students selected to join Team England in the 2017,2019 & 2020 International Dance World Cup!

Angela teaches Classical Ballet, PBT, Acro, Jazz, Lyrical, S&S, Leaps & Turns, Pointe Work and Silver Swans.
She has had a passion for dance since childhood and when her parents moved from Bedford to Rushden, she trained at Kilburn School of Dance in Wellingborough. There she competed at All England Dance, Ruby Ginner Awards and attended associate lessons at The Urdang Academy. Whilst attending Summer School, she met, now business partner, Sarah! Although their careers took them in varying directions, like magnets, their paths have crossed ever since! Working as professional dancers together and teaching alike.
Angela gained a full scholarship to Northern Ballet School, where she studied for three years with a fantastic faculty, including David Needham, Erik Carpenter, Liane McRae and Paul Bayes Kitcher.
Upon graduating, Angela had a successful career as professional dancer; cruising the world with Royal Cunard Line, Costa Cruises and Dance Captain with Princess Cruises. Other credits include Central Festival Opera UK Tours and dancing for Warner Bros, Granada TV, BBC TOTP and BBC Films.
Angela choreographs for the ELEV8 Competition Team and has had medal success at All England Dance Finals and Dance World Cup 2017 & 2019 and is hopeful for the ELEV8 Students who have been selected for Team England 2020.
Sarah YoungCo-DirectorSarah teaches Musical Theatre, Modern Jazz, DDMIX, Classical Ballet, S&S, Acro, Leaps & Turns and Lyrical.
She is a talented choreographer, experiencing success at All England Dance Finals and Dance World Cup 2017 and 2019. She is hopeful for the ELEV8 dancers who have been selected for Team England 2020.
Sarah is Bedford born & bred and trained at The Crescent Academy of Dance, under the instruction of Mrs Ekers. Studying all genres of dance, it was quickly apparent that performing was her passion. She appeared in several local productions around Bedfordshire and professional pantomimes at The Gorden Craig Theatre, before heading off to London (at the age of 16) to full time vocational studies at Millennium Performing Arts.
After honing her craft at college, Sarah went on to have a successful performing career as a Singer / Dancer, where she was lucky enough to travel the world. Credits include UK Tours, Celebrity Cruises & Costa Cruises, as well as numerous shows with Creative Production Group / Amway-Wembley Conference Centre & Dancer/Swing with Thursford Christmas Spectacular (Director John Cushing) .
Upon returning, Sarah turned her hand to teaching, gaining qualifications with the Royal Academy of Dance and International Dance Teachers Association. Her love of guiding young performers to achieve their personal best.Maddy-LouiseCommercial Teacher | ChoreographerMaddy’s passion for performing arts started from a young age at her local dance school in North London, where she studied all genres of dance.
She later went on to full time vocational training at Performers College, where she gained a level 6 diploma in musical theatre and dance. There she studied all aspects of performing arts and performance technique.
After performing as a professional dancer for some years, Maddy followed her heart to pass on her passion for dance through teaching. Maddy is a Free-Lance teacher, utilising her large skill set in local dance and performing arts establishments, where she is highly regarded. One of ELEV8's first teachers, she is a big part of the family and welcoming to all.
With a bubbly and easy going persona, Maddy is popular both with children and our adult clients. ELEV8 is lucky to have Maddy on board, with her excellent teaching and choreographic skills. 2020 saw one of our dancers selected for Team England with Maddy's choreography and we are thrilled to have more projects on the cards!Maddy is excited to return to the studios as soon as we can - but in the meantime is loving teaching you through Zoom!
Ellie MatthewsContemporary & Lyrical Teacher | ChoreographerFormer student, Ellie, went on to train professionally at Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, graduating in 2018 with a National Diploma. She is trained in multiple styles of dance and her talent and bubbly personality make her extremely popular with students.
She is now a free-lance teacher alongside performing as a professional dancer.
Ellie has returned to take many workshops for our students over the past few years and during lockdown taught Lyrical-Contemporary on Zoom.
We are thrilled to announce that going forward, Ellie will continue to teach Lyrical / Contemporary for ELEV8, both on Zoom where applicable and back in the studio as soon as we return!Lynne MacLaughlanMusical Theatre Teacher | Vocal CoachLynne has an extensive background as a singer which took her all over the world as a performer:
Singer: QE2, Marco Polo Birka Princess, London Resident Singer, Talk of the Town, Windows of the World - Hilton and many more.
Recording: Lead Vocalist Harrods Christmas Grotto & Parade (10 Years), Fit for the Best, Bugs the Musical.
When Lynne and her husband had their young family, she decided it was time for a change. Her talent for musical composition and love of children led her to found LindyLou's Adventures in Music. Utilising Lynnes original songs, this company has grown exponentially and now incorporates Glow Babies & Pre-School classes as well.Lynne has been teaching Musical Theatre for ELEV8 throughout lockdown and we are very excited that she will be joining us permanently as Vocal Coach and Musical Theatre teacher! Already gaining success with AED Group we cannot wait to see what's next!
Jo-Anne TaylorTap & Classical Greek Teacher | ChoreographerJo-Anne has over 25 years of teaching experience and specialises in Classical Greek, Tap and National. She has danced for her whole life and competed in AED Festivals as a child, she now choreographs for the dancers of today.
Jo has been an active member of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing for many years and regularly attends seminars on the updated syllabus.
Jo successfully headed the transition to ISTD Tap for ELEV8 and we are excited to have her on board.
Classical Greek is a new genre for our dance academy, but it's certainly not new for Jo. She is inspired to teach our talented pupils this traditional style in a modern way, encouraging fluidity of movement and musicality.
We are privileged that Jo has decided to use her part time availability to take on this role, alongside her full time job working in SEN Education.
Jo now dedicates her spare time to her son and daughter and all things Disney! She's excited to be part of Team Elev8.
Hannah RobinsonTap, Modern Jazz & Acro TeacherHannah began dancing at Footworks School of Dance at the age of three. Her passion for dance flourished and she trained there until she was 19. During this time she competed in All England Dance Festivals, as well as being selected for Team England 2016-2018. When competing at a national level, she gained two silver medals and a gold at The Dance World Cup.
She is a certified Acrobatics Arts teacher and is currently training towards her DDE Tap and DDE Modern teaching qualifications with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD).
Prior to Covid-19, Hannah began teaching Acro at ELEV8 and loved working with our students. During lockdown, she has been teaching ISTD Tap, Mini Acro & Strength & Stretch over Zoom.
We are delighted that Hannah will be expanding her classes with ELEV8, via Zoom, as well as in the studios when we return. She is excited to see you all in class! -
