Jason Thomas Performing Arts offers a wide range of classes to students of all ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced levels as well as vocational training. These classes are held at a number of locations all over Cornwall.
Jason Thomas Performing Arts holds examinations throughout the year with many examination boards including the IDTA offering Examinations in Ballet, Tap, Modern & Street Dance. Also to be included with this is the Street Dance Associate teaching programme.
Jason Thomas performing Arts vocational foundation course is a one year course with a 100% success rate at Auditions with the chance to become a qualified dance teacher included within the Course.
We also stage our annual show at Christmas, hold our end of year show at the Hall for Cornwall and perform at Sadlers wells every Easter.
The Overseas exchange programme is an incredibly exciting prospect and offers the students of Jason Thomas Performing Arts a once in a lifetime experience. They will work with international choreographers, observe and participate in workshops and develop their knowledge of the dance culture in another country.
We are constantly asked to perform in many productions at the Hall for Cornwall including such productions as Ellen Kent Opera & Ballet International, Essence of Ireland and Pasha Kovalev.
More recently Jason Thomas Performing arts has introduced a talent agency ” Cornwall Casting Agency ” with links to many prestigious agencies in London auditions with Doc Martin being there most recent auditions.No Records Found

Jason started dancing at the age of 9 at the Cornwall High School of Dancing in Camborne, run by the charismatic and inspirational Madam Norman. At the age of 12, Jason auditioned successfully for Bush Davies School and The Lagat School of Russian Ballet. After finishing the Lower school at Lagat and appearing with the Northern Ballet Theatre on numerous occasions, he attended London Studio Centre, gaining the position of Head Ballet Boy in his second year. After graduation and becoming a member of Equity, Jason has worked throughout the world. He performed in London's West End, throughout Europe and Asia in Las Vegas style revue shows, gaining soloist/dance captain and company manager positions. He performed on many cruise lines on inaugural cruises, holding the same positions.
Rebecca ShipwayBallet, Modern Jazz & Tap TeacherRebecca started dancing at the age of 3, performing at the Hall for Cornwall pantomimes 7 years in a row, attending dance programmes at White Lodge and at 14 personally selected to perform in a one off show case with Wayne Sleep. Rebecca achieved her RAD Advance 1 ballet exam, BBO grade 8 ballet exam and BBO Advance 1 Modern exam. At 18 she was offered a place at the Royal Academy of Dance to study a BA honours degree in Ballet Education. Rebecca graduated in 2009 achieving a 2:1 with her final year speciality being performance and alongside was awarded her RAD teaching qualification. After graduation Rebecca returned to Cornwall and was offered a job as a Community Dance Teacher, running curriculum linked workshops and after school dance classes in Primary and Secondary schools. She also taught on dance based therapy workshops with vulnerable and disabled children and young adults. Rebecca then returned to London to study a Masters degree in Ballet Studies at Roehampton University.
Robert MennearContemporary Dance TeacherRobert Mennear left Cornwall in 2003 to further his studies in London at ‘The Place’ (London Contemporary Dance School). There he gained both his BA (hons) Degree in Contemporary Dance and his Postgraduate Diploma in Performance with the touring company EDg07. He then went on to tour nationally and internationally with such professional companies as IJAD Dance Company, FFIN Dance, Jose Vidal and Angela Praed. Robert established himself as a freelance Dance Practitioner and Artist in such institutes as The Place, where he aided in developing youth dance as well as leading C.A.T Out-Reach Dance Schemes.
Soo DruettDrama TeacherAfter graduating from The Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, Soo Drouet worked extensively in film, TV, musical and straight theatre and radio. She is most well known for her role as 'Fanny', Little Johns wife in "Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves" with Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman and Alan Rickman. She is also known for "Casualty"and "The Krays". She has appeared in "Eastenders", "The Bill","Minder", "Lovejoy","Murder Most Horrid","London's Burning","Alas Smith and Jones", "Agony Again","The Upper Hand","Surgical Spirit" and "Mr.Wroes Virgins", and many other productions. She has most recently played 'Mrs.Hyacinth Bouquet' in a theatre production of "Keeping Up Appearances" and has appeared in "The Cafe" for Sky 1 and is in the next series of "Doc Martin".
Soo is also a qualified Dramatherapist, after graduating with a Post Graduate Diploma in dramatherapy in 2001.She sings in the well loved a capella group "Angel Tongue", based in Penzance and has performed all over the south westTaylor-Sian PaciuszkoContemporary Dance TeacherI have been dancing since I was a child, but it wasn’t until I joined Jason’s classes when I was 16 that I knew I wanted to be a dancer. I took a degree course at the Laban Centre London and graduated in 2006. My final year at the school really ignited my passion for Graham technique and Dance for Camera, giving me a chance to tour choreographies by Jonathan Stone and Lea Anderson. While training I worked with Window Dance Company as a performer doing site specific, instllation and film work performances. I am now a freelance practitioner and teacher living in Cornwall. I teach at Truro College and the Jason Thomas Dance Studios and my freelance work has included projects with youth, community and choreographic work as well as performance opportunities with Cscape Dance Company, Attik Dance and The Darkin Ensemble. Over the past couple of years I have co-founded All A Scrawl Dance Theatre – a Cornwall-based contemporary dance company working on live performance and dance for camera.
Alex RobinsonModern Jazz & Tap TeacherI have danced from an early age training in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz. In 2006 I completed a foundation degree in Dance at Truro College followed by a BA Hons degree at Northumbria University. Whilst at Truro College I did work experience at Capital School of Dance and later attended for a year to take exams in ISTD Modern. After returning from Newcastle, I continued my ISTD training in Tap and Modern, while teaching dance at local schools in Plymouth. I have also choreographed for local amateur companies and school productions. I recently took my ISTD teaching qualification in Modern Dance with the Deborah Bond Dance Academy and am continuing my professional development through the ISTD teacher training program. I am a member of Plymouth Musical Theatre Company and regularly perform as a dancer in their productions, including, in 2010, “42nd Street” in the Theatre Royal, Plymouth, as well as dancing in four “Music of the Night” productions at The Royal Citadel, Plymouth.
Terri-Anne Beattie-SawyerBallet, Jazz, Tap and Contemporary Teacherhave been dancing since the age of 16 years old and I started teaching shortly afterwards. I enjoy a wide range of dance styles but my favourite is ballet. I have been a member of the Jason Thomas Dance company for 2 years. I currently teach ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary. I have completed my FdA in Dance. I have a BA (hons) in dance theatre, Certificate in Ballet teaching studies with the RAD and Istd and ITDA qualifications. I qualified to fit pointe shoes and teach cheer leading. I am also a member of foundation for community dance.
Christine Blewer PG Dip DMT, Ad Dip, PTLLS.GCSE Dance TeacherI am a moderator for the AQA and delivered GCSE, ‘A’ Level and BTEC Performing Arts for many years. I have experience in vocational dance training at the Italia Conti Academy, teaching Pixie Lott and Danny Baine (Grease). I taught at The Legat School of Dance for many years. I can provide a high level of theoretical and technical dance training in Contemporary dance, Limón and Graham techniques; after graduation from London Contemporary Dance School, I was employed by Lewisham College to Co-direct the dance foundation course which allowed me to develop my teaching skills. I have a PG Dip from the University of Hertfordshire in Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) and have studied to DMT to Masters’ level, working in psychiatry, SEN and with Dancers who have negative body image and eating distress. I trained as a dancer, receiving a choreography scholarship for my Fourth year at LCDS and developed my teaching experience at LCDS Young Place, Laban, Lewisham and St Austell College.
