Footsteps Dance School is a friendly, welcoming and above all professional dance school which was established by proprietor Mrs. Caroline Randall over 25 years ago. Footsteps’ offers amateur and professional tuition in Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz, Theatre Craft and Freestyle. All teachers are highly qualified.
We are very much focused on exam success and concentrate on progression through the IDTA grade system, which is encouraged by regular attendance of classes with loyal commitment from parents and pupils.
Professional tuition is available to those wanting a career, either as a performer or teacher, with advice on how to set up a dancing school together with materials required to embark on the courses offered. Available courses are available in all grades, from pre-Associate to Advanced/Associate levels.
All students have the opportunity to participate in Footsteps’ dance productions held at London theatres.
Footsteps offers a friendly learning experience where pupils gain confidence and develop their skills in a happy environment.

Principal Mrs. Caroline Randall qualified as a dance teacher 26 years ago in all theatre subjects and Footsteps was established soon after! Having trained with the renowned and highly respected Ms. Yvonne Gout since a young age, Mrs.Randall has gone on to fulfil her ambition in becoming an IDTA dance examiner! Having taught many hundreds of students over the years Mrs. Randalls expertise and knowledge of the syllabus is significant, as is her experience in dealing with diverse standards and abilities. Students remain at Footsteps for many years, several are now managing their own branches of Footsteps as well as continuing their professional development under Mrs. Randalls tuition and guidance.
CORINNE GOLDBERGTeacher - Chigwell branchCorinne’s passion for dancing started at the age of 3 when she started at Footsteps dance school taking classes in ballet, tap, modern jazz and street jazz. Having been part of the school for 23 years Corinne has achieved associate status in ballet and tap, as well as having an A level in dance. Corinne now manages her own branch of Footsteps in Chigwell as well as teaching classes at the Chingford school.
“throughout my dancing childhood I performed in many theatres including Millfield, Harlow, Drury Lane and Saddlers Wells. I have competed in festivals across the country and was part of the British Dance Troupe Champions with my school. I chose to take a teaching route as I have a passion working with children and love guiding them through the same journey as I made.”JOANNE CARNE-HOWELLTeacher - Walthamstow branchJoanne started dancing at the age of 3 and has been training with Footsteps since she was 5. Joanne has trained in a number of styles including Tap, Theatre Craft, modern and Freestyle, she has taken exams in all of these disciplines over the last 20 years, as well as competing in many festivals and regularly performing in shows.
Having now taught at Footsteps since the age of 17, Joanne now proudly manages the Walthamstow branch of Footsteps! Joanne teaches all ages and abilities.
“i really enjoy preparing my students for exams and choreographing routines for shows. I also work in many primary schools teaching PE lessons and extra-curricular clubs.”
Joanne is also a level 2 gymnastics coach which adds to her skills as a dance choreographer. Joanne currently holds her Tap Associate and is working towards her Associates in Ballet and Modern.SAMANTHA APPERLEYStudent teacherSam has been a keen pupil at Footsteps Dance School since the age of 3, attending many classes and private lessons. Sam is now working towards her intermediate exams in ballet and tap with Mrs. Randall. Sam has recently become part of the Footsteps team and is now a student teacher! Sam helps out in the younger classes where the children really love her! Sam is enthusiastic and reliable, she is a great role model and will one day make a fantastic dance teacher.
CHARLOTTE EVANSStudent teacherCharlotte has been a member of Footsteps for over 12 years and has taken part in all shows, festivals and examinations throughout this time! Charlotte is now training for her first professional exams in ballet and tap with Mrs.Randall. Charlotte is responsible and reliable and helps to teach many of the younger pupils. Charlotte is a really kind and friendly girl and an asset to the school who will one day make a great dance teacher.
