The ethos of Cardwell Theatre School is to maintain a happy environment where children can develop their creativity and a love of dance whilst allowing them to achieve their full potential. We accept boys and girls as students from age 2 and half to adult. There is a class for everyone from beginner to advanced level, as well as vocational training. We also offer a Dinky Dots class starting at the age of 18 Months.
At Cardwell Theatre School we are proud to achieve excellent exam results in both IDTA and RAD examinations, with over 20 nominations for the IDTA Theatre Awars 2015.
We also have students regularly performing in pantomimes and productions, the most recent being ‘Gypsy’ and ‘Oliver’ at the Garrick Theatre Altrincham.
Former students have performed with The English National Ballet, The Royal Ballet Flanders, P&O Crusies, Carnival Cruises, Universal Studios and Disneyland. Also in West End and touring productions of Wicked, Flashdance, Once, 42nd Street, We Will Rock You, Barnum, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and Shrek.

- Lynda CardwellPrincipal and Senior Partner
Principal Lynda Cardwell began her teaching career in 1973 when she opened a theatre school at the Carpi Ballroom, Platt Lane Rusholme. For the next fifteen years she was to train students who would continue in the profession as both teachers and performers. Former pupils went on to appear in many West End shows as well as on television and in drama productions.
In 1985 Lynda was appointed an examiner for IDTA and now, as a Senior Examiner and member of the ballet faculty was jointly responsible for the production of the new grade syllabus launched 2012. She regularly examines, lectures and adjudicates both in this country and abroadSophie RobinsonJunior PartnerSophie recently became a Junior Partner of Cardwell Theatre School in September 2014. However she has been a part of the school from a young age as she trained with Lynda Cardwell from the age of 3 to 19.
At the age of 14 she started assisting teaching in the lower school classes and at the age of sixteen took her first teaching exam for the IDTA. She is now Associate Freestyle, Tap and Theatre Craft and Licentiate Ballet and Modern.
She continued her professional training at Phil Winston's Theatre Works where she studied a vocational course in Dance and Musical Theatre. After graduating she worked as a singer and dancer for Warner Leisure Hotels before returning to Cardwells is September 2014.
Lisa DunnJunior PartnerLisa trained at Pattersons Theatre Arts College, where she gained her Associates in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Theatre Craft and Freestyle. She also gained qualifications in Acting and Singing with LAMDA and LCM.
After graduation Lisa moved to London and worked in various cabarets, fashion shows and events before getting her first contract on Princess Crusie Lines. She then worked as a production dancer on various vessels for 5 years until she moved back to England.
Lisa has now achieved her Licentiate Ballet, Modern and Theatre Craft and also became a Junior Partner of Cardwell Theatre School in 2014.
Manda GillilandTeacherManda is one of our wonderful teachers and is AIDTA and ARAD trained.
Manda is a former soloist and former assistant to the director of The English National Ballet and has performed in many West End productions.
After her full career as a performer Manda taught for 3 and a half years at London Studio Centre, one of the top theatre colleges in London.
Then she came to join us at Cardwell Theatre School, we are very lucky to have her on our staff
Jacquie RobinsonTeacherJacquie is another of our wonderful teachers. She is also a full Licetiate of the IDTA.
