Footloose Stage School based in Thurnby and Billesdon and offers training in Acting, Singing and Dancing to children 4yrs upwards. Children’s dance classes include Ballet, Tap, Acro, Musical Theatre, Modern and all classes are taught by qualified, CRB teachers. We also offer Adult Classes in Tap and Zumba.
The ethos of the school is to embrace the arts in a fun environment, and to provide the students with as many platforms for performance as possible whilst fulfilling potential, promoting pride and self-confidence and fostering ambition.
The school undertakes competition work 2 – 3 times a year and in addition, the students are regularly offered exciting opportunities to perform in the West End and abroad including Disneyland, Paris where Footloose performed in July 2008 and 2012, The Royal Albert Hall where Footloose performed in 2013 and ‘Her Majesty’s Theatre,’ London where Footloose showcased new work in October 2014. Footloose will return to perform at Disneyland Paris in 2016.
Students have the opportunity to undetake IDTA dance exams in IDTA Ballet, Tap and Freestyle through the school.
Footloose is fortunate to have TV, West End star and IDTA member Steven Houghton as its patron. Steven has performed with the school in its last 5 christmas productions, and regularly hosts workshops for the students.
Footloose is thrilled to offer free trials for all of our classes, for prospective new students to give them a taste of ‘Life at Footloose’ and welcome them to the Footloose Family

- Katie ParkerPrincipal
Katie began dancing at the age of 3, and at 18, went on to become a professional dancer and singer. She has danced in the West End, and has worked as an Entertainments Manager, producing shows for in-house teams. Katie has also produced shows for UK Theme Parks as well as choreographing for West End theatres ‘Sadler’s Wells,’ ‘The London Palladium,’ and ‘Her Majesty’s Theatre,’ and the ultimate dance teacher’s dream: ‘Disneyland, Paris!’
Katie has A Levels in Music and Theatre Studies, and Dance and Choreography qualifications through the BTDA and IDTA. Katie not only teaches all Classical, Tap and Acro work at Footloose, but also dance and singing to all Saturday stage class students.
Katie is a qualified teacher through the IDTA and qualified ZUMBA instructor, and she continues to attend regular masterclasses to keep up to date with the latest styles and training. With a performance background herself, Katie is able to teach the students the importance of performance on stage and teach them audition techniques for shows, cruises and universities. Katie also works at a number of primary and secondary schools across Leicestershire giving weekly Dance and Drama tuition in line with the National Curriculum, including GCSE and A Level Dance.
Katie’s vision for the Footloose Stage School remains constant: ‘The ethos of Footloose is to give students as many chances to perform on as many different platforms as possible. Footloose is a family that all students are welcomed into.’ -
