The Sarah-Louise Ashworth School of Dance opened in Kirkbymoorside in January 2006.
Classes are held daily for children starting from as young as 3 years. Adult classes are also available. We also offer parent and toddler classes from 16 months.
Subjects include RAD ballet, IDTA ballet, modern, tap, jazz, theatre craft, commercial jazz, contemporary, musical theatre, drama and singing. Pupils may take examinations in all dance disciplines if they wish to with the RAD or the IDTA and drama Examinations can be taken with Trinity of London. The school holds a 100% pass rate on all examinations taken.
In addition to working towards examinations all pupils take part in the school’s bi-annual showcase. The school provides dancers for the Pickering pantomime, charity shows, displays and lots more, giving pupils plenty of opportunities to have fun.
In June 2008 the school was awarded the recognised school award by the council for Dance in Education and Training.
Whilst many pupils may not choose dance as a career the school feel it is important that correct training is given right from the beginning, so that the doors of opportunity are wide open.
Furthermore, the school believes dance should be a fun way of keeping fit, building pupils’ confidence, encouraging good posture, allowing pupil’s to make friends and giving pupil’s a hobby which they will remember for the rest of their lives.
