At K2 Dance Academy you will find a host of classes to suit your individual needs, if you are an adult looking to begin or return to dance or a tiny tot taking your first steps on the dance floor – we have a class for you.
Our classes offer pupils the chance to develop their technical ability, taking IDTA examinations, and take to the stage in our regular performances at community events or our Bi-annual Academy Showcase.
Each pupil will be helped to achieve their potential by one of our qualified teachers, developing their skills and performance technique.

- Kara ShelleyPrincipal
Miss Kara, as she is known to the pupils, established K2 Dance Academy in 2007 fulfilling a lifetime ambition of setting up a Dancing School.
Kara first took to the dance floor aged 3 and soon fell in love with dancing going on to train in Ballet, Tap, Theatre Craft, Modern Jazz, Ballroom, Latin and Disco.
She went on to participate in many performances and competitions, gaining a number of medals and dancing in productions at the Nottingham Theatre Royal, Royal Concert Hall and Nottingham Playhouse Theatre.
Kara began working as a teaching assistant in 1998 and gained her first teaching qualification in 2005. Kara is a Licentiate member of the IDTA and holds a number teaching qualifications.
After taking some time out to start a family Kara established K2 Dance Academy, which first opened its door in January 2007 in Ruddington. The Dance Academy has since gone from strength to strength from the original 3 classes a week, to the current timetable.
Amy LindopTeacherMiss Amy L teachers Break Dance and cheerleading at K2 Dance Academy. Amy has an impressive Dance CV, teaching at Dance Schools, Colleges and workshops all over the country and has been teaching for many years. Amy gained a BA Hons in Dance at University and has continued to study Urban dance styles. Miss Amy a a great assest and brings the Urban edge to K2.
Amy KalwaTeacherMiss Amy has been working with K2 for many years and has danced since childhood. Amy is an Associate member of the IDTA and continues to train in Irish Dance, Ballroom and Latin. Miss Amy started her time with K2 as a assistant in our Baby Ballet classes and have come through the ranks and is now responsible for teaching a number of Baby and Preparatory classes and our Riverdancers.
Amy TaylorTeacherAmy is a qualified IDTA dance teacher and has been dancing since she was a young girl. Amy has trained in Ballroom and Theatre Dance styles and teaches for a number of dance schools in the South Nottinghamshire area. Our Beginners Tap and Adult Street Dance classes are lead by Amy.
