Hype Dance Academy offers dance classes & workshops in Sheffield for children, teenagers, adults & professionals and have been operating in the region for over 10 years.
We place an emphasis on an encouraging and inclusive atmosphere so no matter what your age, shape, size or ability you’ll be welcome here at Hype!
Open dance classes have no exams, and can be done purely for fun, exercise or personal development and a love of dance!
Exam classes offer the chance to work towards qualifications with either the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) or the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA).
Hype Dance Academy is accredited by The Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET), as a pre-vocational school. This means that Hype has demonstrated compliance with nine basic standards of professional practice including CDET’s Code of Practice.
Hype is able to provide dancers, young or old, for any of your events and also provides educational workshops for schools, colleges, universities and other groups.
Hype also has 2 fully sprung floored and mirrored dance studios available for hire at our city centre based studios in Sheffield.

Anna started her professional career as a commercial dancer/choreographer for fashion shows, and dance tutor in the UK before founding Hype Dance Company, in 2004.
She choreographs dance theatre, performs as a solo artist and is involved in dance education. Anna has worked with many companies delivering work across many genres including Danceworks UK, Robert Hylton Urban Classicism, Decadance Theater , Renegade Dance Theatre and continues to work with the The Royal Ballet School Dance Partnership & Access.
Teaching regularly within Hype Dance Company’s Academy and as a guest for many schools, colleges and community groups across the country, she is a registered teacher with the Council for Dance Education and training, Board of Dance Teaching Qualifications and holds an EQUITY card.
Anna has been awarded Arts Council funding for various projects, a Lisa Ullmann Dance Travel Scholarship, and was shortlisted for the O2 / Grazia Magazine National Entrepreneur of the Year in 2009.Abbigayle RoystoneDance TeacherAbi started dancing at the age of 3 at Emma Vee Dance Studios until the age of 18. Since then she trained as a student at Phil Winston's Theatreworks Blackpool, where she gained her first 2 IDTA teaching qualifications along with qualifications up to Advanced 1 in Modern Jazz, Ballet and Tap.
She has been a finialist in the Miss Dance of Great Britain and has worked as a professional dancer at several events and brings her experience and knowledge to all the classes she leads.
Lauren Aizlewood-ClowDance TeacherLauren began her professional dance career at the age of 3 in Sheffield.
After completing her BTec Diploma in Performing Arts she then moved on to train at the prestigious LABAN in London where she gained a BA (Hons) in Dance Theatre.
Upon graduating Lauren has taught, choreographed and performed in various productions across the UK and the world - including a TV commercial for Japanese fashion label Tusmori Chisato in conjunction with Citibank which was aired throughout the far East.
Lauren specialises in teaching Contemporary and Ballet technique as well as creative / choreographic workshops. She currently works as a freelance dance artist, teaching across the country. Her works ranges from technique classes to creative choreography drawing on her extensive experience.
Lucy HaightonDance TeacherLucy Haighton is a contemporary dance artist based in Sheffield. She trained at the Scottish School of Contemporary Dance, Dundee where she graduated in 2012 and began to embark on a diverse, professional career.
She has worked with a variety of choreographers and artists, including Dora Frankel, Gary Clarke, Lisa May Thomas, Balbir Singh and Sonia Sabri, and has performed throughout the UK, including at the Brighton and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, Dance Live Festival in Scotland and Big Dance England. She has also begun to work on her own projects, producing a body of work which up until now includes two duets and a solo.
Taking inspiration from many other art forms, she is beginning to discover life as a dance creator and live art performance maker.
