Established in 1987, the Ruth Marsh School of Dancing now has around 130 pupils. Classes are small and friendly and all abilities are catered for. As well as learning the discipline and skills of dance, this is a great way to make new friends and have fun! We run classes for children from 2 years old upwards and adults, and enter students for IDTA and RAD examinations, and put on a theatre production in alternate years.

Ruth is a qualified and registered teacher with the International Dance Teachers’ Association (IDTA) and the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), with over 30 years experience teaching children’s and adult classes in ballet and tap.
Ruth started dancing at the age of 6, with an ambition to teach dance since her teens. She gained her first teaching qualification at the age of 19 and following a short period gaining experience as a professional dancer, she went on to study for a degree in Performing Arts at Leicester Polytechnic (now De Montford University). Subsequent training has led to further teaching qualifications with the RAD and IDTA. After living and teaching overseas for a few years, she settled in Sheffield, where she currently teaches pupils from 3 years old to those in their 60's.
