- Rachel WhithamPrincipal
Principal Rachel began her dancing journey at the age of 9.Whilst she loved performing, Rachel developed a passion for choreography, teaching and perfecting routines. Rachel realised that opening Rachel’s Academy of Dance was a natural progression for her and after one year she curtailed her Dance College experience to pursue this route, opening the school at Worsbrough Community Centre, aged seventeen in 1994. In November 2013, the biggest step and challenge was undertaken – with the move to the purpose-built studios in Wombwell, Barnsley. In December 2019, Rachel celebrated 25 years of teaching and is over the moon that she is still passing on her knowledge of Dance onto her students today, and watching them grow into wonderful dancers, and seeing students achieving professional jobs in the industry. Rachel cannot wait to welcome you through the doors of Rachel’s Academy of Dance.
Rebecca JonesTeacherRebecca's dancing career began at the age of 4 where she joined Rachel’s Academy Of Dance. Whilst dancing here at Rachel's Academy of Dance, she also trained at Northern Ballet School in Leeds, where Rebecca performed in The Nutcracker Ballet at Sheffield Lyceum.
With Miss Rachel’s great help and advice Rebecca then went on to train at Phil Winston’s TheatreWorks in 2015 for 3 years. She graduated college in 2018 and gained her first professional job onboard P&O Azura. She then went on to do another contract on P&O Ventura.
During her time at Phil Winston's Theatre Work, Rebecca gained her IDTA teachers qualification. She now teaches here at Rachel's Academy of Dance and loves to share her knowledge with all students and watch everyone in the dance school grow like she did.Ceira VaughanTeacherCeira started dancing with Rachel’s Academy of Dance, at just 3 years old. Her mum enrolled her in classes calling her ‘monkey feet’ and 20 years later Ceira has not looked back!
Upon leavening school Ceira attended Rotherham College of Arts and Technology and graduated with three distinctions in Dance. Much like Miss Rachel after helping teach some classes, Ceira knew that teaching was her vocation.
Ceira gained her IDTA Pre-Associate teaching qualifications with Distinctions. Ceira feels she would not have achieved this without the guidance and support of Miss Rachel and now hopes to offer the same to future students
