- Louise UsherDirector & Instructor
Louise has been dancing most of her life, starting with weekly tap, ballet and modern classes as a young child before taking part in classes and private lessons in Latin, Ballroom, Street and Freestyle.
In 2010 Louise obtained her first professional teaching qualification in Freestyle, at the Associate level, with the International Dance Teachers Association. This was soon followed by obtaining Associate levels in Street and Latin and the higher Licentiate level in Freestyle.
Louise has previously worked for a successful dance school in Egham working her way up to the position of Vice Principal. She has co-choreographed and directed annual shows for almost a decade and prior to this she taught dance and drama for Stage Coach.
Louise has assisted with a variety of IDTA lectures and demonstrations, supporting other teachers with their continuing professional development, as well as preparing students for both amateur and professional examinations.
Louise is also fully trained in Health and Safety, Child Protection and Safeguarding, ‘Prevent’ and First Aid.
Louise, like all Unity Dance Academy instructors, continues her own professional training with the IDTA.
Louise like the other instructors is excited to welcome you to UDA!Alex PurnellDirector & InstructorAlex has been dancing for as long as she can walk. Having trained classically in Ballet, tap and modern theatre as well as Latin & Ballroom. Alex completed all of her grades from Primary to advanced, achieving distinction all the way through. Alex started training in Freestyle & Street in her teenage years and completed her teaching qualification with IDTA at 16. Alex has completed qualifications in all Latin dances, Freestyle & Street and continues to work towards further professional development.
Alex has taught children and adults of all abilities, ranging from Wedding dance, children’s classes and private lessons. She has also had the privilege of training multiple competitors for the IDTA Freestyle scholars, Making them the top 1% of dancers in the UK. Alex has previously taught at a successful school for over 8 years, and now looks forward to the future with UDA.
Alex has had the privilege of assisting with various IDTA lectures and demonstrations, aiding other professionals with their development.
Alex has a degree in Sports science From Bournemouth University, covering Anatomy & Physiology, sports therapy & Development and coaching fundamentals to name a few. Having worked as an early years teacher, Alex has all the training and qualifications necessary to get the best out of all dancers.
Alex is also fully trained in Health and Safety, Child Protection and Safeguarding, ‘Prevent’ and First Aid.
Along with the other instructors, she looks forward to welcoming you to UDA.Natalie BlockDirector & InstructorNatalie started dancing at the tender age of 3 and trained in Ballet, Freestyle, Tap, Modern and Latin and Ballroom. Natalie successfully competed taking part in annual Performances, Festivals and Freestyle Competitions. As well as undertaking frequent exams in all styles, until qualifying in 2004 as a Freestyle Dance teacher with the IDTA. Natalie also gained an A-Level in Contemporary Dance at Farnborough 6th Form College.
Whilst working for over 14 years at a successful local dance school teaching both children and adults in group and private lessons, Natalie also completed her PGCE in Secondary Education. Natalie is also fully trained in Health and Safety, Child Protection and Safeguarding, ‘Prevent’ and First Aid.
Whilst working in schools she has supported the Drama Departments by helping to choreograph the annual school production including; Grease, Hairspray, The Sound of Music and the School of Rock. As well as collaborating with a team to take the school’s Rock Challenge team to first place competing in Portsmouth, reaching the final each year!
Natalie has also worked as a freelance Dance Teacher for schools, dance schools and youth groups. Teaching stand alone lessons in Freestyle and Street as well as being available to partner solo dancers and demonstrate in Latin in Ballroom.
Natalie is continuing her training in Freestyle and is currently working towards her IDTA Licentiate in Freestyle as well as attending the IDTA Lectures at annual Congresses to develop and hone her skills.
Natalie looks forward to sharing her passion for dance with you and cannot wait for you to join us at UDA!Jade MartinInstructorJade has been dancing for as long as she can remember, and was fortunate enough to be trained in a variety of different styles, taught by many inspirational dancers. Jade assisted at a very successful school from an early teen until qualifying at 18 with the IDTA. Jade has taught a variety of different styles and abilities ranging from young children all the way through to adults.
Jade also has an honours degree in dance from Kingston University, where she trained with West End professionals and industry stars. Jades knowledge of the dance world, trends and styles makes her a stand out teacher.
Jade has prepared students for examinations, Performances and competitions. As well as being a fun and engaging class teacher.
Jade aims to spend the Majority of Her dance life developing her knowledge for hip-hop, contemporary and Latin dance, alongside others when possible.
