The Orme School of Dancing has provided top quality dance training for over 100 years. Students can learn a range of different dance styles and disciplines along with associated performance arts skills.
All students are nurtured and made to feel a valuable part of our school family, whether they attend once a week for fun or whether they wish to pursue a professional career in dance. All of our teachers are Fellows of the IDTA – so we make a professional and knowledgeable team.
The school welcomes all. We encourage students to enjoy dance regardless of any special needs. Anyone can dance and we ensure that everyone has the chance to participate. If you want to dance – we welcome you with open arms.
We offer regular IDTA examination sessions. We ensure that examinations are positive experiences for our students. Examinations provide a goal to work towards and a measure of students’ achievements in the dance discipline studied. The school has had successful entries from Rosette 1 Level to Fellowship Teaching qualifications. Examination sessions are followed by an Awards and Demonstration Evening at a professional theatre for parents to see a demonstration of exam work and students receive their certificates. A celebration of achievement.
We teach classes in Ballet, Gymnastic Dance, Modern Jazz, Musical Theatre, Tap and Contemporary Dance. Advanced Ballet is always in the timetable and we offer a range of Adult Classes for the beginner, returner or the more experienced dancer.We give students the chance to perform each year at our regular Showcase events which take place at a professional theatre. These events are an opportunity for parents to see the standard of their child’s work and to enjoy seeing all levels of work across the school.

- Samantha Faulkner F.I.D.T.A ABRSM Dip. BA(Hons)Joint Principal
Miss. Samantha as well as teaching throughout the school runs the hugely popular and over-subscribed Music Teaching business Manhattan Music. Samantha is a qualified Associated Board Royal Schools' of Music teacher and teaches piano, flute, clarinet and guitar for primary and secondary schools and privately. Samantha has an honours degree in Music and is the school's Musical Theatre Director.
Jennifer Faulkner F.I.D.T.A ABRSM Dip. BA(Hons)Joint PrincipalMiss. Jennifer as well as teaching throughout the school runs Creative Flair a large and highly successful company providing dance and music sessions throughout the West Midlands in Foundation and Key Stage 1 and 2 settings. Jennifer has a large team of qualified IDTA teachers working with her at Creative Flair. As well as being a qualified Music Teacher, Jennifer has an honours degree in Dance and Music and is our Contemporary Dance expert.
