The Island Dance and Theatre Company is a community based dance school. offering students from babies through to adults dance and musical theatre studies.
Offering IDTA examinations in all subjects 100% pass rate (Highest mark being 94%)
We Perform every year on the Isle of Wight and in the West End and we have performed four times at Disneyland Paris.
Our goal is to develop each and every child in their confidence and life skills as well as theatrical and physical skills in dance.
We believe that classes and Musical Theatre not only teaches you how to dance and perform, but help children enhance and develop skills in other areas of development e.g. Language & Literacy, Social & Emotional, Music, Cognitive and Physical.Qualified teacher of the IDTA, Enhanced DBS and licenced Chaperones with IOW Council and hold a first aid certificate.

- Linda SmithPrincipal Teacher
Linda began her dancing career 52 years ago, just 2 ½ years old, at 'The Doris Gwilt School of Dance' in Leicester. Over the years, Linda received extensive training in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Acrobatics, Drama and Singing and has completed IDTA exams in all subjects, appearing on TV, Radio, dance shows, festivals, musicals, plays, pantomimes, reviews and old tyme music halls. Linda travelled the UK with magician Wayne Dodson, as 'Lorano and Ann'. In 1981 Linda was awarded her IDTA teaching qualifications and went on to successfully run a dancing school on the mainland for 21 years that received 100% pass rate in all the exam subjects. Many of Linda's students have gone on to enjoy professional status, in the West End, opening their own schools, etc. Linda along with her daughter Charlotte, run Class Talent which offer dance opportunities to dance schools around the UK and abroad. They also run a dance and theatrical shop along with the rest of their family called Tutus & Tailcoats.

2 ½ years old, in Leicester, dancing first with
'The Doris Gwilt School of Dance', later with
'The Leicester Dance Company', and then at her mother's Dance School
'The Anne Elizabeth School of Dance'.
Charlotte was taught in the IDTA syllabus and is a Student teacher with the IDTA, she has completed and passed her anatomy and physiology diploma and has passed with Highly Commended the first half of her teaching exam.
She was solo vocalist with Leicester Phoenix Youth Choir, and is Grade 8 in LAMDA Examinations for Drama.
