Marlene’s School of Dancing has been established in Norfolk for 25 years. We are
recognised as one of the foremost dance training establishments in Norfolk. We
can offer superb facilities in our full time studio with ample parking nearby. Here
at Marlene’s School of Dancing we can offer all round dance tuition from tots to
adults for both the social dancer and those who wish to make dance a career,
including training for teaching qualifications.
Our children’s classes are designed to improve confidence, communication and
life skills.
We are one of the few recognised CDET schools offering fully qualified, dedicated
teaching staff, covering all dance subjects.
We hold exam sessions with the largest Dance Teaching organisation in the world:
IDTA with 100% pass rate, including students being put forward for scholarships.
Attending classes at our school has lead to some of our former students
successfully auditioning for professional training at some of the most respected
colleges in the UK: Laine Theatre Arts, Performers College, Bird College, Italia
Conti, London Studio Centre, Stella Mann, MADD and Millenium leading to them

Marlene began her IDTA teaching career for Mr Dennis Drew in London before she moved to Norfolk in 1990 to set up her own Ballroom, Latin and Freestyle dance school. As dance trends changed Marlene brought in the services of Natalie Day and Gillian Bonnett.Marlene's School of Dancing has now been running for 25 years and has grown from 1 day a week to a full time dance school. Marlene has adjudicated across the country including the Nationwide Freestyle and Rock 'n' Roll finals at Blackpool.
Natalie DayTeacherNatalie began her dance teacher training at Marlene's School of Dancing in 2003.
Natalie had always danced as a child at the school and wished to pursue her
career in teaching. Natalie teaches at the school full time in all
subjects. Natalie is still currently training with Miss Partricia Straw to gain all of her Fellowships to which
she has nearly achieved and would dream to become an examiner within the
IDTA. Natalie has adjudicated across the country including the Nationwide
Freestyle and Rock 'n' Roll finals and the Nationwide Streetdance finals held at
Blackpool. Natalie has entered students into graded examinations up to Advanced
1 standard as well as training teachers. Natalie prides herself on keeping classes
fun whilst training the students to a high standard with versatility in all subjects.Gillian BonnettTeacherOriginally from Colchester, Gillian professionally trained at Performers College.
After college, Gillian successfully auditioned for various dancing jobs including
becoming a dancer for Cromer's end of the pier show 'Seaside Special' where she
met and fell for her now husband!
After Gillian moved to Norfolk she secured her place teaching at the school
specialising in Ballet. She has trained students to Advanced 1 standard who have
all passed with Distinction, who have successfully auditioned to train
professionally at dance college. Gillian has been teaching at the school for 18 years
and her passion is shown through the technique gained to a high standard in our
students.Sophie and Polly DuniamGuest TeachersGrowing up in the school, twin daughters Sophie and Polly Duniam's success started at a young age when they landed the lead roles in the children's television programme 'Home Farm Twins'. At 16 they left Norfolk to train professionally at Laine Theatre Arts. Since graduating from the college in 2005 they have performed in music videos for Pixie Lott, Duffy and Rita Ora's Video 'I will never let you down'. Before going on tour with Rita Ora the girls landed a world tour with the Pet Shop Boys and Take That as backing singers and dancers. They have performed on many prestigious TV shows including X factor, Brit Awards, Graham Norton, Paul O' Grady, Jonathon Ross, Ant and Decs Saturday night Takeaway and Never Mind the Buzzcocks and on stage alongside Darcey Bussell in 'Viva La Diva', 'We Will Rock You' in Zurich, and Thursford Christmas Spectacular. The girls also have their own band 'My Bad Sister' which gig around the UK. The girls run Summer and Easter schools for the students.
