I am an IDTA qualified teacher in a variety of core and non-core subjects. I opened my dance school in 2001 with a strong belief that enjoyment is the key to learning and that each dancer’s individual progress is important. For that reason I keep the classes small and employ student teachers to assist within lessons so that every pupil achieves in every lesson.
I attended the University of Birmingham and after a three year course achieved a BA degree with Honours in Dance and Theatre Arts.
After I completed my degree I stayed on to do a PGCE in Primary Teaching and taught at St Alphege Primary for several years providing me with addition skills in teaching.
I have also taught dance at Stagecoach Theatre School and choreographed and performed in a Contemporary Dance Company, called Misfits.
I have a real passion for dancing and for teaching and feel that I have the best job in the world. Not many people can say that they truly love their job, but I do. Dancing isn’t what I do, it’s who I am.
I teach all subjects within the dance school and believe an enthusiastic and encouraging environment produces pupils with confidence and good technique.
I am an IDTA qualified dance teacher and have been teaching for Philippa’s school of dance for 5 years.
I studied at Winchester University where I achieved a 2:1 BA (Hons) choreography and dance. This is where I found my passion in disability and dance. I gained lots of experience in supporting special needs children and adults through dance. I have worked in primary schools teaching dance in PE sessions alongside the national curriculum. I have supported charities in inclusive dance for children with a variety of disabilities and supported them to access dance.
I believe children should enjoy dance and achieve in every lesson. Through the right support they should grow in confidence

I believe that practise makes perfect and enjoy showing pupils how to achieve the very best out of their bodies when they dance.
Dancing isn't just about movement, it's about dancing with their heart like no-one is watching them. It's about taking risks. It's about expressing yourself.
If you dance with your heart your body will follow.
